Anne McDermott

Performer. Writer. Thug.

Anne McDermott is a Brooklyn based writer and performer. ​

Her solo show, How to Swallow a Volcano, premiered to a sold-out audience in NYC. The show was developed with Emmy Award–Winning Writer Matt Hoverman and directed by Padraic Lillis.

Anne was featured in the sold-out Best of Generation Women storytelling show at Joe’s Pub in 2022 and has performed at top NYC comedy clubs—including Broadway Comedy Club, Comedy Cellar, and Eastville Comedy—and shared stories on stages such as The Moth, Taboo Tales and WORD!.

Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Daily Beast, The Belladonna Comedy, and on dirty car windows.  

Known for her whimsical, fearless storytelling, How to Swallow a Volcano explores anger, therapy, and relationships with sharp wit and depth.

Her best days are spent rubbing dogs' bellies in Prospect Park.
